Jewish community Chabad Lubavitch Moldova
Amazing time at the winter camp “Gan Israel 2023”: discoveries, lessons and unforgettable experience!

Camp Gan Israel opened its doors for the first time in the winter this year. 15 children participated in a unique experience, spending the winter holidays in a bright and educational atmosphere. Typically, children’s camp at Gan Israel in Moldova are organized only in the summer, but this year’s pilot program in the winter turned out to be so successful that it will undoubtedly repeat during future school holidays.

The location of the winter camp was a surprise: within the walls of the synagogue! This decision was made to do this since the synagogue has become a place for the entire community to unite.

Our camp brought together children not only from Kishinev, but also from Ukraine and Israel, which is important. The Chabad Lubavitch community is becoming an important home for every Jew.

We are proud that Gan Israel brings together children involved in all educational programs in the synagogue. One day, the campers joined the kindergarteners for a fun lunch event. After lunch, all participants from the camp and kindergarten at Chabad Lubavitch went to the playground in the new shopping venter. The kids had a very positive experience and enjoyed getting to know each other.

At the end of the winter camp, the campers, together with the youth club Enerjew, participated in a fascinating master class on making chocolate sweets. Each participant in the master class not only mastered the skills of creating sweet treats, but also took home treats for their loed ones.

In addition to fun activities and master classes, the children also studied the theme of the camp psukim. In the morning, they learned the song, and in class they studied topics related to the Torah. For example, the children a large picture of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai and also cut out cards in the shape of a heart to give to their friends since the theme of the lesson was “love thy neighbor.”

At the end of a great week, each child was given gifts to remember the experience. Among them were children’s books with the camp emblem. These souvenirs became a symbol of their days spent in the camp and will be a reminder of the wonderful memories.

Camp Gan Israel always strives to create an atmosphere of joy and kindness. We are confident that our efforts help to develop no only practical skills, but also the spiritual values that will remain with the children. Winter Camp Gan Israel left so many positive memories for all participants, parents, and organizers. We, the organizers of Gan Israel, deeply appreciate the opportunity to see happy smiles on the children’s faces. Working in the camp brings us indescribable joy because of the opportunity to delight and inspire these wonderful children. It’s a great honor for us. Such events indicate that we are on the right path inspire the children, motivating them to continue to be inquisitive and seek knowledge.

The winter fairy tale became possible because of the efforts of Chaya Mushka Zalmanov, Natalia Yocheved Melnichenko, Adelina Golubovskaya and Zvi Pizelman. We are deeply gratitude for their big hearts and dedication to our children!
